Drawing Studio with our professor, whom we call Utzy. I recall he was very nice but had a preference for looser drawings. I think I started leaning slightly more abstract because of this, but I enjoyed it.
String Drawing
Five Abstract Spaces
Based on the previous assignment, but like, more abstract?
Revisions
Line Drawing
This was a very tight drawing and not quite what Utzy was looking for, but is was a big hit with classmates.
Skeleton Drawings
What a drama queen!
Time Drawing
I drew a series of different housing styles through the years in Britain. It's a bit scattered in what type of building but it was fun learning about different eras.
6 Value Drawings
I made an animation with three of these about light. It was my first time trying to animate and I used photoshop which was SUPER janky. Then I learned to compile and animate in after effects. Lots of firsts with this one. People enjoyed it. It's not the most entertaining but I think with the quietness in the classroom and large screen it worked well.
There were so many people in this class that I learned from. One classmate was using the charcoal and making drawings that looked like abstract figure paintings and I had never seen the material used that way. RISD doesn't really teach techniques which is frustrating, but that also makes people use materials in unique ways I wouldn't have imagined and I loved seeing it.
On a side note, I remember climbing out the window with a friend to go on the balcony and as I was climbing back in through the window, the professor walked in LOL. To be fair, the windows only could open a small amount and it was very hard to fit through so it took me a while to get back in!
This was as far it would open. Hehe.
